Why I returned to college NOW

Have you ever felt stuck? As if where you were was not where you were meant to be?

I feel like I have been in a mid-life crisis for the past 7 years. Working different jobs, yet not feeling as though I was doing what I was meant to do.  Every time I tried something different, I felt my life would change for the better.  That didn't happen.  I understood that there were careers out there that interested me, but I HATE school. I LOVE learning, but having to test gives me anxiety to the greatest degree.  I had finished my associate degree in my early 20's but didn't know what to major in and didn't want to waste my money to finish my bachelor's degree.  I actually never intended to go back and finish my bachelor's degree.  I started working a job as a financial coordinator at an orthodontic office, making really good money and had Friday off.  I would go to work and sit at a computer screen all day, calling people to pay their bills and talking to insurance companies about payment.

Don't get me wrong, someone has to do this job. However, that person wasn't me.  I stayed there for 6 miserable months, feeling isolated, ignored, and unappreciated. Something had to change, and that needed to start with me and my education.  If I wanted to be considered for certain jobs, I needed that diploma.  Here I am at age 47 with 4 kids, a husband, three dogs, a part-time job and a desire to make a change in my life by going back to school.
