I always thought of myself as a visual person. Until I tried to write the video script and realized that when certain details were left out, the video didn't flow as I had intended. I ended up trying to watch many advertisements to help me with hook ideas. Hook ideas are much harder than they sound. Knowing that within that first second you will either keep or lose viewers.
I also tend to be "long-winded" which doesn't help with trying to keep my video concise. Understanding my target audience and taking into account who I am making this video for helped to narrow down some of my content.
When I received feedback from one of my classmates stating that my script sounded like an infomercial, that made sense since that is all I can remember from long ago. I don't watch TV very often and when I do there aren't advertisements. I had to make a point to do research on my own to view successful advertisements. I am not a technical person, and I am worried about how engaging my visuals will be.
One quote I found to be encouraging throughout this process is the following: "Don't quite when obstacles arise. Persist, trust yourself and your vision until it's accomplished."
